Governor Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on Propositions 20 and 27

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today issued the following statement after the people of California voted to uphold the Citizens Redistricting Commission, established by voters in 2008, and to expand its authority to congressional districts:

“Once again, Californians have voted to take the power of drawing district lines out of the hands of elected officials and put it in the hands of the people. Today’s action will lead to more competitive races and fewer hyper-partisan elected officials – reducing gridlock, increasing cooperation and improving the legislature and Congress’ ability to serve Californians.”
